Lee Hi 1,2,3,4

So, i'm supposed to be studying and as usual i'm going to take the help of my beloved kpop to procrastinate.
Lee Hi, OMG! What a voice! That voice exudes badassery and attitude like it is no one's business. I was blown over by the song which has this Jazzy feel to it and focuses on her strong point the vocals.
She is a rookie and apart from the reality show she participated in, she doesn't have much camera experience, BUT she is SO awkward in front of the camera. She doing all these normal serious tough singer moves and motions, only to a somewhat lesser degree that makes her look awkward. Its like someone told her to do those moves and she doesn't think she can do them. Or at least her body language says so. She is beautiful before and after her YG-esque makeover. Even though it is kinda wasted because her body language didn't pull it off. Mute the video and you'll find yourself cringing at what goes on. She is decked out fabulously, (YG Stylists take their job seriously) with bright colors very 2ne1-i-love-you-ish and outfits that complement her body, but she lacks spunk those girls have. With the rookies being near perfect before the camera these days, i suppose she does come off as a little lacking and there is MUCH room for improvement.
Hopefully when she debuts as a member of supearls i can say boy! has she improved a lot! Because it definitely can't get any worse.

My thoughts on English Vinglish

Just got back from watching English Vinglish and What was that?
I heard it was supposed to be a movie that makes you feel good about yourself as a woman and stuff and i didn't get the movie's line of thinking at all.
Forget about fighting the stereotyping, the movie just enforces them even more. Seriously! What happened to finding yourself at the end of the movie and actually feeling good about yourself and showing the big effing middle finger to everyone? She just ditches the guy who adores her for someone who didn't even respect her and married her for her looks just because she's married to him and has his kids. As the other woman, her sister said that whatever she was today was because her husband encouraged her, as the lead woman whose husband did nothing but ridicule her and chop off her shoots to maintain her bonsai-ness as an Indian housewife didn't she feel her husband was like the hugest ass to set foot on the planet? He even asked her to give up her miniature business enterprise in the beginning. Dafuq man? All he did was make her feel small. Does she as a representative of the housewives in the Indian households with restaurant quality cooking skills that go to waste think that learning a new language was going to make him "love" her? Even if he did, doesn't that mean he was a humongous ass who doesn't deserve her anyway? *sigh* I'm confused. All her English learning did in terms of husband love was - he looks at her with bedroom eyes even during the day. Wo0t! A hornier ass-y husband. Totally what i would want.
And what a perfect class it was, everyone was there: the French chef, the "Madrasi" IT professional, the Pakistani cabbie, the Chinese hair stylist, the Mexican house keeper, the silent gay Afro and the gay English teacher. Wow! I think the Germans were missing, but hey, that's just me. A little nazi conflict could have helped the movie add another one to the list of stereotypical conflicts.
I'm still doing the inner post movie cringing. Any Indian saying they've been subjected to racism or sexism, please watch the movie. We're just as racist as the rest of the world. At least movie-wise.
As far as the movie is concerned, it does nothing for my self esteem and it doesn't appeal to me intellectually. There was no real conflict and every difficult situation had a person miraculously rescuing her and she never got mugged. Not even once. In NYC! (I'm taking the movies' own stereotyping and trying to work that logic against it here) Now if she somehow made it big and opened up her own bakery and learnt bits and pieces of English along the way and grown a spine, i'd probably complain a lot less.
For some "free-thinker" as her niece labelled her, she sure did fit comfortably into the mould of an Indian Housewife.
Anyone else find her new nose distracting throughout the movie? She's too plastic fantastic for me.

Jiu Keishicho Tokushuhan Sousagakari

To be honest i only watched the drama for Infinite's L's sake.
List of disappointments:
1. L didn't have much screen time even though he played the title character.
2. L barely got to say anything.
3. They killed him off in the end.

 4. It was only 9 friggin episodes long! Did they have production troubles or something? We only got bits and pieces of the story. Too many details were left to the public imagination.
5. None of cute guys with prominent roles made it to the end of the drama.
6. No matter how fated they may seemed, the couples were not meant to be.
7. Izaki-Amamiya had like the most electric relationship in the whole series and they kill Amamiya in a totally unnecessary, somewhat stupid seeming encounter.

 8. They never showed Amamiya's body, and the mole was the one who said that his body was already shipped off so i hoped that he would turn out to be a bad guy or a double agent or whatever. Manga heroes have recovered fully from worse injuries. That character seemed to have incurred the wrath of the writers somehow. Maybe because he was so darn perfect. But that didn't happen.

9. Amamiya's back story never got told. Seriously, was I the only one curious about his back story? Why did an angel like him have such a murderous aura which Izaki caught?
10. I get that the girls' friendship was the main theme, but wouldn't it have been fitting for Miaki-Azuma pair to end up together?
11. How did the bloody reporter get all the right information? He was way too suspicious and left both Izaki and Misaki alone after they used his tip in return for leaving him behind. Ambitious reporter stereotypes don't behave that way.
12. The governor didn't care that his not-daughter-daughter was revealed to like the whole world. Doesn't that mean the end of their political career in most societies?
13. The SAT are supposed to be an elite team of the highest ranking police and they reveal Izaki Motoko's full profile in a public magazine. How is she supposed to go undercover now?
14. Toshinori's overly huge little finger as shown from the plastic bag was successfully reattached with almost full function after God knows how many hours of being severed off.
15. Nobody really cared about Jiu in the end. Someone, (Misaki) finally understood his real reason for doing things and yet didn't even try to get him out of a building that was obviously going to explode.
16. The bomb's explosion didn't correspond to the huge thing that was hanging there as the bomb.
17. The guy who held the lady hostage (forgot his name) wasn't related to the NWO and was killed simply because he worked with Jiu.
18. Lady Gaga's song Edge of Glory was used as an OST.

Things I liked:
1. Jiu always wore white and had this angellic look about him, leading the veiwers to think that maybe like Izaki he had a heart in there somewhere.
2. Amamiya's and Izaki's interaction. That girl was showing so much improvement.
3. Jiu.
4. Amamiya.

Yea, that's about it. This show had so much potential. Maybe the korean directors would have turned it into a drama with a more pleasant ending, not the bittersweet one we have here. They left the ending open, with the bad guys still at large and everyone's sacrifice all null and void.

Jiu Keishicho Tokushuhan Sousagakari - Episode 1

I'll be honest, i only started watching this drama because Infinite's L was in it. So, i was in for a thorough disappointment as we only get to see L give mean looks for like a total of 20 seconds or something in the whole episode.
So, At the beginning of the episode, there's this lady running with a black bag who as we see a few seconds later is being chased by a policeman (i say policeman because he had a earpiece but didn't wear bodygard standard black shades) Azuma as we are told by the voice speaking into his earpiece. Clippetty-cloppetty go the heels and she runs to a bridge with our policeman watching from below. He speaks to his superiors and informs he has the lady in sight. She receives a phone call and suddenly falls down blocked from Azuma's view. (Anyone else suspicious?) She then gets back up still catching the black bag back into his view. What she also has is a plastic bag with a mysterious red liquid and a solid object. I think somebody got one of their digits cut off yakuza style. She holds both the bag and red liquid filled plastic bag close to her chest and runs away with all her might. Azuma standing below runs to follow her, not before noticing a blonde haired dude in white whose appearance screams look at me look at him for sometime in which two whole trucks pass before he mysteriously vanishes out of sight. Azuma then  tries to reason with her, telling her that giving the ransom doesn't necessarily guarantee her son's safety. She holds up the plastic and says its her boy's little finger. Azuma checks the black bag only to find it full of magazines.
We are shown later that the lady switched the bags and run as per the kidnapper's instructions. Genius. Not. And so he is riddled with guilt and the little finger in the plastic bag haunts him all the way back to work with a cute assistant. Then we see Misaki an uber cute police woman in SIT breaking her head over a problem which her senior pointedly tells her is simple. Its obvious she is the girl everyone loves and dotes on because she is oh so cute and innocent. Her partner on the other hand is Izaki (anyone else notice how their names rhyme) and she is the polar opposite. She is the toughened girl who can beat her male colleagues at the dojo even when they try to cheat and is unnecessarily rude and is absolutely unpleasant. The dark past is strong in this one.
The male colleague she just beat can't take the fact that he just lost to a girl and comes to challenge her in office and she does nothing other than shoot hateful looks. Misaki prepares tea for everyone. We know this because she calls out the name of each person before pouring tea into their cups which are all different. Is that normal in an office? And as the squabbling progresses, Misaki comes into the room and announces tea. The officers talk about how she speaks up in the right place at the right time and begin listing her successful negotiations in hostage situations. Izaki doesn't hide how she dislikes this. The other employees say her voice is so pitiful that woe is the villain put up against her. The senior most officer says she should be nominated for a grand prize in the Cannes film festival. The other colleagues correct him and say it is the Palme d'or and that is her new nickname. She mumbles on about how that is Izaki's nickname, though she doesn't tell us why. Izaki scowls at her when she gives her the tea.
Izaki and Mizaki are obviously awkward with each other but Misaki admires Izaki. She says that to Izaki who says she has never been in any real danger till now and says her very voice is irritating. Izaki then rides off on her motorcycle. Her helmet shade was transparent till she took off after which it was tinted. Small, rather insignificant observation. She works out her frustration at....... at the gym where we see a muscular man wearing a cross pendant stalking her as she sweats away. His pectoral muscles contract in excitement?
We then see her walk into a blue lit room only to walk into a second dimly lit red room and down the spiral stairs she goes. She bickers with the bartender till he reveals the location of guns MP5 or something. I was wondering if it really was that easy when the bartender guy pulls a gun and several men out and attacks her. Given her cliché character, i'm not surprised she beat all of them single handedly and even said she'll be back to play later when she is bored. On her way out, Mr. Cross pendant asks her if there is a shop nearby. she tells him she doesn't work there and walks out, but does sneak a peak at his face. Misaki has dinner with her parents who ask her to get married soon. Mom tells her to stop some expensive car from speeding so that the rich guy in the car can fall in love with her. Lol.
Azuma is getting yelled at by his boss who refuses to listen to his explanation regarding the failure of the last case. On his way out, he runs into Misaki who recalls him from joint meetings their departments had. Misaki wants to make small talk, but he barely registers her and tell her to convey his regards to the cheif. Misaki worries to her other female co worker about how worried Azuma looked. She says that Azuma has been divorced and has a kid and feels personal responsibility in cases like this. Misaki says he seemed worried about something else (like she knows him) and the co-worker began teasing her making her uncomfortable. Izaki drops her cup, shattering it and promptly bringing about silence. She apologises and says her cup fell because it was too noisy. Ha. She begins cleaning up immediately and Misaki helps her out. She says no thank you in her usual gruff manner and heads out.
An announcement through the building says that there is an emergency and everyone heads out to the spot where there is a hostage situation and the hostage's house has been barricaded by the bad guy. Everyone strategises in a dimly lit room and divide into teams and head out. Izaki has been paired with the guy she beat and had a tiff with earlier. Not good. Any attempts to reach out to those inside go waste and the police HQ decide to call the landline. The lady picks up and tells them that she is hurt and the bad guy was nearby. A second call connects them to the kidnapper who orders immediate evacuation of the surrounding police and chinese food to be brought in by a female. So random.
Azuma watches this on the news. The anchor woman tells the viewers that many people have gathered and shows blondie who still wears white standing out from the crowd among the crowd, but just for a second, Azuma missed this because he was making coffee. Dayum! The team decide to send Misaki in with food and tell her to keep the kidnapper busy for as long as possible. Azuma is informed by his cute co-worker that blondie is in the crowd glaring at him. Blondie disappears once he turns his head away though. Azuma grabs his coat and runs.
Misaki goes to the bathroom and calls her mom who talks about some relative visiting and she ends the call abruptly, tears welling in her eyes. She is not coming back, is she? She has to carry the tray all the way from the HQ till the site. As she passes, she looks at Izaki who sneers and looks away. Misaki further steels herself and walks into the room, not hearing the be sure to get the guy Izaki mumbles. Now why couldn't she say that to her when she was making eye contact?
Misaki enters the place where the smart kidnapper has tied up the hostage and turned the tv up with opera like music playing so that the officers don't hear anything at the HQ. He grabs her from behind and asks her to take off her clothes. Pervy kidnapper alert! Blondie is still watching from afar.

So, at the end of the episode,we get a gist of what stereotype each character represents. Anyone reading manga will know what i'm talking about. Nothing interesting as such and the plot has too many holes. They could have tried brushing for prints off the bag. To find two old used bags like that might have been hard, i'm guessing both of them are brand new. Considering how there were manga in the bag that could also contain prints, i'm thinking their forensic division needs some tweaking. The criminal in light so far doesn't look very smart. The blondie (L) i'm thinking is a ghost? with his white clothes and blonde hair. If he wanted to watch the scene with the crowd, wouldn't the criminal make himself less conspicuous? He can be spotted from a spaceship. And another teeny problem i had was with the kid's little finger. It looked the size of an adult's ring finger to me. Not too huge, but still irked me nevertheless. The direction could be upped a few notches and the lighting, Gawd! Do they need better lighting or what?! Every scene has odd lighting and odd filters on the camera. Lets hope for the better in later episodes.!
Too lazy to watch it again to screencap it.

Can't help but notice how GD's friend, the one wearing his beanie has his finger in his mouth like the whole time and only took it out when he had to party.!

G Dragon Crayon MV Review

So, here's the link for CrayOn is right up here. If you haven't watched it yet, GO! GO! GO!

There's as usual, a lot that GD (as does Big Bang) pack into any music video of his. So, there's so much stuff to blog about.. Yay.! Which means, this is going to be a loOooOOoooOong post. You have been warned.!

So, EEEEEEEeeeeeeeEp! *squeals of joy* The basic plot of the video is GD in his studio apartment that doesn't look like he has a kitchen  and his day watching tv, first alone and then with a few friends. Later he is seen partying in his room? with many friends and the party is so cray that he gets the characters in the tv dancing as well..

G Dragon is seen in the beginning on the TV which flickers to life as a very convincing mad scientist doctor who is monitoring patient GD's EEG. Nothing normal about the waves being recorded and the Doctor declared the patient "Crazy" with the gestural twirling a hovering index finger over the temple. He's reading from a file that says Ji DaeGol. This is how his anti-fans refer to him. So, GD's saying that his anti's call him crazy eh? The Chain of bones on his ears and choice of "office furniture" makes me want to evaluate him as well.

So, the "crazy" GD with the family guy sneakers and batman earrings actually has a mini GD in his head sending out bouts of electricity with a machine that looks an awful lot like the telegraph (remember those?)

So, yes, the doctor's initial suspicions about an abnormal focus of electrical activity in GD's brain is proved right by the sleeping EEG. We see another dimension where GD is checking his swag. His custom made necklace mostly. And then we switch over to the real life(?) he has risen from his snoop dog blanket covered bed and taken off his wonder woman robe to shave or trim his non existent beard. Seriously GD you're not fooling anyone. Even you know you're a pretty boy. Ooh, i get it, he's mad he doesn't have any facial hair. Explains why he's looking like he's trying to chop his neck off with the thing.

And then he sits down in front of the TV which sometimes morphs into a cardboard cut out like tape player (remember those?) named CRAYON to watch omg! GD play the drums midst two hot assed girls. We think he's a kid playing with the noonas until his nose begins to grow Pinocchio style and he shows that sly smile of his. Ooh, using the Pinocchio hypothesis therefore, it could only mean one thing: GD lied about being young and innocent to those noonas and is getting an awesome view from where he is seated.

And he's out to prove he owns his own style as he wears a parody beanie from an international brand decked with tons of Chrome Hearts goodies, his fingers still send the crazy signals to the patient GD..

Cut to hot lady with nice legs that look very similar to the legs drummer GD was admiring a few seconds ago. And Close up. Trolled again. It was just GD. And he asks: "Why so serious?"

And everyone gets their Cray On in GD's living/bed room. Must find out what channel GD watches on that TV because we have a very cute Clown GD in a clown car knocking off the letter Z from Crazy with vigour and passion.

The Clown car, outraged, knockes him out.! My poor baby!

The guys in the living room rejoice at the restoration of evil by something as significant as the clown car, because it is so erm, symbloic. You see, the clown car was tired of the kind of atrocities it was being forced to commit due to the evil evil clown riding him. When his beloved Z was knocked out, he saw the utter meanliglessness the word CRAZY was subjected to and rebelled.

Next up on TV, Swan lake. Only, its an artistic representation of the swan, the lake and the ballerinas. By artistic i mean, 2nd grade art. We have GD in a rubber duckie aka the swan in the "purple velvet" lake with pink tutu wearing delicate ballerinas. Tada!

GD then begins talking to the TV and brags about his card. He is super generous and shares his clothes and everything with his friends as we see from the beanie his friend sports. Remember the beanie little GD wore in the patient GD's head? Yea, his friend, the one with his finger on his lip is wearing the same Giyongchi  one.

Up next on tv: A scary movie where a woman with a voluptuous ass is being chased down by a belly tattooed villain.

Only to realize that the villain was one among them.

See, told you he was evil. Drummer boy in his natural habitat.

How cute is "That XX" silently referring to GD's song in the same album tattooed on his belly right above the belly button to make it a X eyed face?

 And the Cray is On!!!

And everyone from everywhere joins GD's party. People jump on his bed, his coffin (he had one of those in his living/bed room too occupied by one of his strange but cute friends) and have a lot of fun. GD and the camera recording it do an cute couple like twirl in the same room.

Among the guests were an ajhumma and Joker from the Dark knight.

Its a fun colourful video i recommend you watch while feeling grey or bummed. The music is shifty and i can't actually pin down a genre except maybe electro and hip hop. The video can be best described as GD-esque. That's going to become an adjective or an adverb soon.

Tablo - Lesson One

"Yeah, people, attention

Education, knowledge

Huh, yeah, I got something to say to my teachers

Genius is not the answer to all questions

It's the question to all answers

Brothers and sisters Yeah,

Come and listen

Do we learn math to add the dead sums?

Subtract the weak ones, count cash for great ones?

Yo, we multiply but divide the nation.

Break down like fractions, send our sons away to die

Do we learn science in defiance of faith?

To make alliance with fakes for an appliance's sake?

We ask for the real to make artificial intelligence

To make smarter kills of others' presidents

Why do we learn history?

To fix stories for the guilty

Make angels look filthy and the devils look milky

If the victor writes the books then what have we won?

Are we battleships of authorship a rich man's guns?

Do we learn to read to receive the lies,

To deceive the eyes from seeing between the lines?

Yo, we use words to bring forth sticks and stones,

To sing songs of hate that fill the streets with bones.

Unseen or heard,A King with words

Tablo, lyrical assassin

y-y-yeah yeah

Make me vision for better living

Unseen or heard,A King with words

Tablo, lyrical assassin

y-y-yeah yeah

Make me vision I'm the truth

Is our day job more than self-slavery?

When we're locked watching the clock impatiently

We sweat for the dollar bills, the checks, and the credit cards

But the dollar kills, breaks the necks of our inner hearts

If the police are role models for the righteous,

Why does justice depend on guns and nightsticks?

Mr. officer, don't punish me, with brutality

The streets got me singing Marvin Gaye off-key

Why? do we need church to get to heaven's gates?

Can holy water quench the thirst of those whose fates

Started in the wrong place with the wrong face?

Can the poor and the hungry survive solely on grace?

Can this rap game ever bring changes?

When MCs would rather floss a cross than be saviours?

Will I last in this game, be blasted with shame

Will I stand for my name and never blaspheme for fame?

Unseen or heard, A King with words

Tablo, lyrical assassin

y-y-yeah yeah

Make me vision for better living

Unseen or heard, A King with words

Tablo, lyrical assassin

y-y-yeah yeah

Make me vision I'm the truth"

The lyrics of Tablo's Lesson one. This is what i would call a modern poem, Set in the present day, these lines reflect the flaws in today's "evolved" society. This is how i've interpreted it. Education and knowledge used as separate words means they're two different things to him. And then he calls out to his teachers probably telling them that memorising things (which is encouraged more than applying ideas in most asian countries) is not the way to gain knowledge, that knowing random facts that help you pass school doesn't make a person a genius. He says that genius is the question to all answers. (He says he is the question  to all answers in another song, which means he's calling himself a genius. Oh! Vanity, how i love thee.) Implying that a true genius is what questions the basic fundamental principles and comes up with these answers. He says brothers and sisters, referring to the people of the world who share his plight, and asks them to listen. Probably because they have turned a blind eye to these troubles. The lines that follow are pretty obvious in which my favourite subject mathematics' motives are questioned. The only thing i remember thinking while solving math problems as a kid is getting to the bottom of the problem, i.e. finding the right answer. And i think the poet remembers that too and thinks of the functions of mathematics as we grow up vastly different from what it was before and thus raises the questions he does. Adding the "dead" sums means useless calculations that children and adults do. "Subtract the weak ones" probably refers to the human resources downsizing their company or just the discarding of the weak in general and opting for the stronger, more efficient goods and people while counting cash for the great ones who have a lot of it to be counted, so to say. "We multiply" referring to the increasing population of his country and the world itself which is being constantly divided by the very same people. The country where Tablo is from was a part of a slightly bigger country that divided into two and is the origin of this line. "Break down like fractions" this means that people divide among themselves forming groups within groups and forming ramifications that don't benefit the greater cause. The compulsory army enlistment rule in South Korea is what sending their sons away to die refers to. Army service is not necessarily fatal, but they are the sufferers of the strife between the two countries.
Science when taught in school is just science. It’s when we grow up that the implications of religion on science and vice versa become apparent. The so called scientists make alliances with corporations that preach something and practice something else and receive many "gifts" in return. We as humans ask for the real in everything we use. From fruit juices to cosmetics, everything claims to be "real" and "pure" when it is obviously not. For years the scientists have been trying to develop artificial intelligence that would help them further their research in other areas and help solve the mystery of life itself. By doing so, we develop advanced technology that helps the "smarter kills of others' presidents".
History is written by the winners and they tell their side of the story. In the process, the doers of genuine good are often painted with negative colours and vice versa. He asks if the writers and poets ought to do something about that or just be an instrument for the rich man or victor's gains. Those who read, often thus receive the lies and fail to see the bigger picture. The words politicians often use in their speeches brings forth wars of many kinds and singer who reflect this in their work ultimately "sing songs of hate that fill the street with bones".
As Tablo was still a struggling artist when he wrote the song, he's both unseen and unheard and yet a self-proclaimed king with words, hoping to assassinate the evils using the song's lyrics. He asks people to make him vision for better living as he speaks the truth.
Slavery is something that has been condemned by the modern civilization and Tablo calls the Day job or a 9 to 5 job self-slavery as we watch the clock impatiently willing it mentally to strike 5 sooner. We work hard for our money so that we can afford the luxuries in life, it corrupts us from within, breaking the “necks” of our inner hearts.
If the police are the role models for all that is righteous in the world, why dies justice depend on so much violence? I think he knew the answer to that the moment he put it down on the paper, but it was a valid question form an ideological point of view.
Do we really need churches and other religious monuments to help us on our journey in the afterlife? Are they of real help to those who desperately need it? Those who started in the wrong place with the wrong face refers to the racism and regionalism that has been plaguing the world. No matter how much we want to believe the whole global village concept, it is true that there will always be some who serve as figures of embarrassment to the others, the free thinkers of the land. As someone who grew up far away from his land of origin, Tablo must have faced some amount of discrimination at some point in his life and wishes it gone. Can the poor and the hungry survive on prayers and grace alone? The religious institutions although are involved in many works of charity, the sad truth is that there are many people still deprived of their basic needs while others squander away their plentiful wealth in almost meaningless endeavours.
He then asks if this rap game can bring about any real changes when those in charge would rather improve their "image" than be actual saviours. After the failures that the Epik High endured Tablo voices out his personal concerns by asking if he would last in the game or be forever forgotten.
